Jan Richardson Baughman

Janet Richardson-Baughman earned both a BFA & an MFA in ceramics & with this she taught college & began her studio career. She was on the board of directors for two years of the National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts (NCECA).  Janet then expanded her media to include painting, mixed media, pastels & collage. The natural beauty that abounds where she lived in northern Michigan inspired her artwork. By studying the way the landscapes flow together, Baughman created small vignettes of tranquility.

Jan felt a strong influence from the seasons & direct interaction with nature. She said of her art, it was like a dance or conversation in her head, which she expressed through her abstracts, rich in texture & color.

Janet Baughman passed in 2014. We have an attractive collection of her encaustic paintings
