Lou Messa

Lou Messa is an exceptionally fine painter who has been portraying rural America for over 50 years. Many of his paintings can be found in private and corporate collections nationally.

A native of Pennsylvania, Lou Messa studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Moving to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains Lou found he was a ‘country boy’ at heart. With delicate brush strokes his paintings reflect the love of rural America, weather-beaten barns, overgrown pastures, what you would find taking a hike in the woods or a drive on an old winding country road; these are his favorite subjects for his detailed paintings founded in realism.

He is also recording some vestiges of rural Americana that are fast disappearing, the barns painted with "Mail Pouch Tobacco" or "Coca Cola" and also some of the structures carefully built with stone and mortar or hand-hewn timber by immigrant hands.
