Raised in Germany, Jacquilyn had a childhood surrounded by the artistic masters of Europe. Whether it was visiting the Louvre, the Sistine Chapel, or the many cathedrals & palaces throughout Europe, art was a dominate presence in her life and fuled a passion for the arts.
Jacquilyn began painting in high school by copying the Impressionistic Greats. Accepted into the VCU School of Arts with honors she switched her major to Art History and finished with a Masters' Degree in 19th Century French Impressionism.
Throughout her adult life Jacquilyn continued to paint landscapes evolving her own artists hand & unique representation of the natural world around her. As brush and imagination slowly merged over time her artwork seeks to delve into the subconscious of the viewer. Jacquilyn's landscapes and abstracts provide a gateway for the viewer to unearth and freely roam into their own subconscious feelings, memories, dreams and aspirations.
When asked about her goals as an artist Jacquilyn is quick to reference her favorite quote by Don Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, "too much sanity may be madness, and maddest of all, is to see life as it is and not as it should be." Jacquilyn captures and manifests the ephemeral whisps of hope, dreams, wishes, and light that reside in all of us. We should all see the world as it should be, endless possibilities.
Jacquilyn focuses manly on distant landscapes and wants those viewing her landscapes to feel a sense of peaceful calm and serene. She feels in todays world we all need that more than ever.
